2022-09: Last Friendly Competition. Largest Cup EVER!

Well done all who participated.

2022-09: Chairman's Cup & Palmers Diamond Wedding Celebration

Today the club celebrated the diamond wedding anniversary of Jean and Bernard Palmer. A great lunch and some wine which may have hampered afternoon play.

2022-09: Finals Day 1: 2 Wood Singles Cup

A whole lot of cups and trophies up for grabs this weekend. A super set of matches played with a small interruption for the rain. We saw some expert bowling and tactics from the players. Well done to all who competed throughout the competitions allowing the cream to come to the top. Remember 'you have to be in it to win it', so next year get your names down early. A special thank you goes to the ladies who provided lunch and refreshments, and to John Juson for organising the competitions.

The match was between Elliot Sutton and Peter Dodson. Trophy presented by John Juson. Elliot Sutton eventually overcame the many times cup winner Peter to take a hard fought , very close battle. Well done both, and maybe Elliot will have his name on more cups in the future!

2022-09: Finals Day 1: Pairs Cup

The pairs cup was a battle between Elliot Sutton with Jill Snell and Pat Pigram with John Juson. Pat and John eventually conceded the match once the game was outside their reach and therefore won by Elliot and Jill. Elliot is on a roll and playing at his best. Well done all parties for an entertaining and skill filled game.

2022-09: Finals Day 1: Percy Judd Cup

This was a contest between Linda Juson and John Collins. Initially this was very tight match, but at the halfway stage Linda kept her nerve and started to edge away to take the match 21/14. Some skilful bowling by both parties. Well done Linda, and you know what you have to do next year John.

2022-09: Finals Day 2: Handicap Singles Cup

A battle of epic proportions between two titans of the club. John Juson and Peter Dodson. Again the first half was extremely tight but in the end superior nerve and cunning shone through with Peter pulling ahead to take the game. A great example of skill and endurance from both parties. Well done Peter, and commiserations John.

2022-09: Finals Day 2: Gentlemen's Championship Cup

The gentlemen's cup was contended between Peter Dodson and John Collins. Again the first half was extremely tight. We saw some epic tactics to try and break John such as placing the jack on the far edge of the green which made for an interesting end. In the end experience came to Peters aide enabling him to pull out a small lead to win 21/16

2022-09: Finals Day 2: Ladies Championship Cup

The ladies championship was contested between Linda Juson and Pat Pigram. An exciting game of cat and mouse, very evenly matched players. Getting past 20 was the most difficult part for Linda allowing Pat to claw her way back into contention with Linda eventually taking the game 21/17.

2022-09: Finals Day 2: Odds & Ends

A few random shots from throughout the weekend

2022-09: Afternoon Pairs Cup

The afternoon pairs cup was organised by John Juson once again (many thanks for your commitment). After a long session, the pairing of Linda Ritchie and Ken Dowsett overcame all comers to take the cup.

2022-07: Friendly @ Frinton

After a long and tiring journey to Frinton (yes, I'm making excuses already), the teams put up a brave fight against a very difficult set of rinks.

The rinks had various cambers and so was very challenging to not only the new bowlers, but also the most experienced of bowlers. However, this did enable the players to hone their skills and tactics during these matches.

2022-06: Phil Gower Shield

A big thank-you to Sue Gower for presenting the awards and enjoying the day. Here is a selection of pictures from the day.

2022-05: Clubhouse Works

A big thank-you to the maintenance teams for obtaining a grant from the community association for new entry signs and to the Bowling club to fund the remaining cost and materials for painting the changing rooms.
